Detailed Event Description:
Year two of our WFIA Connect: Vendor-2-Grocer will follow the same format we did in 2017. Independent retailers are invited to join us at 3:30pm for a round of speed networking with 20 select vendors offering unique products and services. Retailers will have 4 minutes per vendor table before switching to the next. This is your chance to see the latest and greatest...all in one place! All retailers are welcome to attend this portion of the event, but vendor attendance is limited to those who have been pre-selected to showcase their products.
Following the speed networking is a Cocktail Hour with silent auction. Vendors not included in the Connect speed networking are invited to arrive at this time to network and gather with fellow industry leaders prior to the Industry Awards Dinner.
The Industry Awards Dinner will begin at 6:30pm. All are invited to enjoy delicious food, drinks, celebrate innovative retailers, and best of all make new business contacts! During this time we'll be presenting our Industry Awards: The Retailer of the Year Award, Vendor of the Year Award, and Community Service Award.
Dinner will also include a live auction for "Connect" packages offering time with CEOs and buyers of prominent retail establishments. Sample packages include golf and dinner with the CEO and COO of Rosauers, a pheasant hunting experience and one night ranch stay with URM, deep sea fishing with IGA, and more!
Finally, the evening will conclude with a speaker presentation by Peter van Stolk, CEO of SPUD.ca and founder of Jones Soda on the topic, "We Cannot Change Our Yesterday, but All of Us Can Change Our Tomorrow." van Stolk's talk will provide grocery insights that focus on playing your game, having fun, and making money in 2018.
Peter van Stolk is the CEO of Sustainable Produce Urban Delivery or SPUD.caTM, the largest pure play online grocer in Canada. SPUD.ca is focused on creating meaningful relationships with Canadians around the benefits of local, organic food. SPUD.ca operates in 4 markets and utilizes proprietary technology. This allows the company to provide free delivery throughout the 4 Western Canadian cities it services.
van Stolk believes: “Food will have the greatest impact on our generation. How we think about food, how we buy food, and how we consume food will change, and we are excited to be a part of this transformation”. As founder of Jones Soda Company in 1987, van Stolk served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors until 2007. Jones Soda was one of the first consumer branded companies that recognized the potential of Social Media in creating emotional connections with its consumers.
