They adopted a series of emergency rules to relieve the burden of temporary layoffs, isolation and quarantine for workers and businesses. Emergency Rules - Novel Coronavirus - 12 Weeks of Standby - 03.24.2020
    Stakeholders and Interested Parties,
    On March 9, 2020, the Department filed emergency rules in order to provide support to employees and employers impacted by the COVID-19 virus across the state. The Department is issuing an additional emergency rule extending standby status from four or eight weeks to twelve weeks in an effort to support the economic impacts of COVID-19.       Minor Worker Variance

      While schools are closed as a result of the Coronavirus and to prevent from spreading, L&I is considering these weeks with no school, as non-school weeks (school vacation).  Please ensure when hiring young workers that they are trained properly, young workers need specific training on how to stay safe in the workplace relative to virus protection. 

      • Employer must apply for a minor work permit endorsement on their business license, have a completed Parent Summer Authorization form  and keep proof of age on file.
